Former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) South East Media Director Nwafor Richard Nwali has charged Works Minister David Umahi with misleading President Bola Tinubu. Umahi had promised Tinubu that the governors of the South East were trying to get him re-elected.
Nwali responded by saying that such a statement is misleading. In an upcoming documentary about Tinubu’s two years in office, which will be produced by Bayo Onanuga, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, the former governor of Ebonyi State revealed that South East governors are organising an event to support Tinubu.
“The President is collaborating with all of the South East’s governors, irrespective of their party affiliation. To formally endorse the president for the 2027 elections, we are even organising a summit that will bring together all of the South-East’s leaders.
We want our projects finished, the nation’s unity reinforced, and Ndi Igbo properly integrated,” Umahi stated. Nwali, the Ebonyi State PDP Publicity Secretary, called Umahi’s statement “baseless” in an interview with Naija News on Wednesday. According to him, the governor of South East for the PDP cannot support Tinubu’s reelection.
He declared, “David Umahi’s claims are unfounded, unsupported, and without merit.” Recalling that Umahi had previously stated that Ndi Igbo would support Tinubu, he added that the former governor of Ebonyi would rather mislead the president about his prospects in 2027.
To be clear, Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu failed miserably in every way, particularly in the areas of infrastructure, education, security, and manpower development.
“I don’t think he (Umahi) has any information; as you may recall, David Nweze Umahi has made numerous claims that he was unable to support in an effort to mislead Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his own benefit. He claimed that Umahi is driven more by self-interest than by Ndi Igbo interests.
Ndi Igbo was reassured by the member of the South East PDP’s Contact and Mobilisation Committee that the PDP would return in 2027 with greater strength to defend their interests.
I would like to take this opportunity to encourage Ndi Igbo to continue believing that the PDP is the only reliable opposition.
As the zone’s party leaders, we will take all legal measures to bolster and re-establish the PDP in preparation for the general election in 2027.
The Ebonyi PDP spokesperson went on to say, “We will provide people-oriented policies and programs to Nigerians and rescue the current mess that the ruling All Progressives Congress has created.”
