
In Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, a furniture workshop and a church were destroyed by fire, destroying numerous properties estimated to be worth several million naira.
According to information gathered, the incident happened on Saturday in Sogoye, Bode, Ibadan. According to reports, the fire destroyed properties valued at millions of naira.
In a statement provided to DAILY POST on Sunday, Mafuf Akinwande, Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Service, confirmed the development.
“The emergency call was reported through the Security Trust Fund toll-free 615 to the fire incident at the above stated address at precisely 15:49 hours on Saturday, May 10, 2025,” he said.
“A church and a prefabricated furniture workshop were damaged by fire when the fire crew, led by ACFS Olubunmi, arrived on the scene of the incident.
The fire started when an unidentified individual burned sawdust on their hips, which spread to the workshop and church and ignited them. There were no casualties reported. The public was asked to refrain from burning trash carelessly.
