During a press conference in Abuja on Wednesday, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), broke down in tears as he apologised for the mistakes in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

Oloyede acknowledged the anguish caused by the disparities in the exam results and said, “I apologise for the trauma caused to the candidates,” with tears in her eyes.

As we previously reported, Oloyede admitted during the briefing that there had been “one or two errors” during the exam, causing a great deal of confusion and discontent among the candidates.

This admission comes after multiple complaints regarding inconsistent results, especially with regard to differences in the scores of the candidates.

Following reports that the errors impacted about 379,997 candidates from the Southeast and Lagos State, the board has been subject to harsh criticism.

In an effort to address the issue, JAMB has since rescheduled the test for the applicants.
