The main suspect in the murder of HRH Eze Eric Ihevueme, the traditional leader of the Eziama Nunya Autonomous Community in the Isuikwuato Local Government Area of Abia State, has been taken into custody by security personnel.

After being on the run for months, the suspect, identified as Emeka oGBU, an indigenous member of the same Eziama Nunya community, was reportedly captured by security personnel in Ezinachi, Okigwe, Imo State, according to the Nation. It was learnt that in July 2024, HRH Eze Eric Ihevueme was brutally murdered in his hometown of Eziama Nunya, leaving the community in a state of profound grief and terror.

Unknown attackers reportedly attacked the revered monarch at around nine o’clock in the evening, in what many called an unprecedented act of violence in Isuikwuato. Community leaders, elders, and security services began a thorough search for the perpetrators of the assassination after it happened, promising that they would not evade justice.

It was discovered that a land ownership dispute might have been connected to HRH Eze Ihevueme’s murder. According to sources, Emeka was claiming a piece of land that he claimed belonged to his deceased father. Emeka allegedly insisted on taking back the land despite not being the first son, which caused tensions that allegedly resulted in the traditional ruler’s brutal k!lling.
