Some GOtv Problems and Solutions

As you know that there is no perfect technology, Below are some of the major problems you may be facing when using the GOtv and fastest way to get solve the problems.

Finding Missing Channels

Missing channels is a common problem that GOtv subscribers face. If you’ve discovered that some of your channels have mysteriously disappeared, let’s go over the troubleshooting processes in greater detail.

1. Reboot and Rescan:

  • Begin by tapping the menu button.
  • Navigate to Information Central and press OK.
  • Locate and click the info button (usually designated “i”), followed by the digit 7.
  • The decoder will restart immediately and return to the FTI (First Time Installation) screen.
  • On this page, select Language (English), Country (Nigeria), and Antenna Power (OFF).
  • The decoder will re-scan for available channels.

2. Manual Scanning:

  • Hold down the GoTV remote to initiate a manual scan.
  • Press the MENU button, then Advanced Options.
  • Select installation and then adjusting.
  • In the TUNING menu, select AUTOMATIC SCAN and press the OK button for each stage.

During the scan, check for the text “TV channels found.” If you see the whole number of channels (usually 57 for GOtv and 37 for GOtv-plus), your scanning was complete. If not, try running the scan again.

3. Antenna Directions:

It is critical that your outside antenna is properly positioned. You may need help from someone inside the house while altering the antenna’s direction to improve signal reception.

Additional checks:

• Ensure that your antenna is securely attached to the RF IN port and that the signal strength is consistently at or above 90%.

• Regularly check for software updates by going to Menu > Information Central.

• If a software upgrade is available, start the download from Menu > Advanced Options > Decoder Upgrade (look for the red icon).

E017-0, E48-32, and E016 Errors: Decoder Not Enabled for Channel

It can be frustrating to encounter error codes such as E017-0, E48-32, or E016. Here’s a detailed instruction on how to handle these issues:

Restart the decoder:

Begin by turning off and then restarting your GOtv decoder. Sometimes a quick restart will solve these problems.

SMS Reset:

If the error persists, SMS “RESET IUC number” to 4688. Replace “IUC number” with your actual number (e.g., 2018996383).

Online Clearing:

For online clearance, go to https://www.gotvafrica.com/en-ng, On the right-hand side, you will see the option to clear the error code. Enter your IUC number, select GoTVE16, and then click on Clear Error. After that, click OK to get the signal information, and if there is no signal on Channel 23, try Channels 24, 27, or 46. If none of these produce a signal, consider re-scanning.

Missing Channel 29 on my GOtv:

The absence of Channel 29 on your television can be disconcerting. Here’s a detailed tutorial to assist you with this issue:

  • GOtv App: Begin by logging onto your GOtv App, where you will normally find options to resolve issues and refresh your channel list.
  • Manual Scan: To access your decoder’s menu, click Menu > Advanced Options > Installation > Automatic Scan. Press OK to start the scan.
  • Use the USSD: To clear codes associated to your decoder, dial *288*1# from your cell phone.
  • Reset your GOtv: Access the Menu Button on your remote and select Installation. There may be an option to reset your decoder, which could bring back Channel 29.

Disable Parental Controls:
