Five victims who were kidnapped in the state a few days ago have been freed by Amotekun, the Ondo State Security Network Agency’s agents. The victims were freed without having to pay the N150 million ransom that their kidnappers had demanded.

Adetunji Adeleye, the state’s Amotekun commander, disclosed that four of the victims were abducted along the Ore-Ijebu Ode/Lagos motorway.

Adeleye also emphasised that five days after he was kidnapped from his Upemen home on Owo-Ikare road, another victim was found in the Ifon forest.

Amotekun rangers have been deployed into all of the state’s major forests and locations to combat criminal activity, according to the Amotekun boss, who also revealed that armed kidnappers had demanded ransom from the victims’ families before Amotekun stopped the operations.

He revealed that Amotekun officials had stopped more than 12 cases of kidnapping and armed robbery in the state, especially along the border between Ondo and Ogun states.

Ayo Adeyeye, one of the rescued victims, described the horrific and terrifying experience he had while in captivity and disclosed that the kidnappers had threatened to kill him and other victims if the ransom demand was not fulfilled.

When they stopped us on the way home, my brother fled before I could stop the motorbike. We hiked through the night until the next morning after they pulled me along.
