One of the most terrible things that can happen during your JAMB journey is that you lose your profile code, either by deleting the SMS, losing your SIM, or simply not receiving it.

Candidates who lost or did not preserve their profile code are unable to advance with registration or correction. Without your profile code, you cannot register for JAMB, log into your portal, or even correct your name, email address, or date of birth.
JAMB employs a single 10-digit code to identify you. If you lose it, it’s similar like getting locked out of your own admission destiny.

Unfortunately, many people continue to take the wrong actions in an attempt to recover it. In this guide, I’ll teach you a tried and true way for recovering your JAMB profile code even if you no longer have access to your original phone number.

Why Is My JAMB Profile Code Important?

Your JAMB ID serves multiple functions, including linking your NIN to your JAMB site, completing UTME or DE registration, changing courses or institutions, and printing admission letters or results. Once formed, it never changes, even if you lose it, JAMB will not provide you another one. You must reclaim it.

How to Recover Lost JAMB Profile Code: The Real Solution

Solution 1: If you still have the SIM you used to send NIN to 55019/66019, this is the easiest technique.

  • Step 1: Ensure you have ₦50 airtime on the line.
  • Step 2: Send this SMS: “RESEND to 55019 or 66019“.

You will receive your 10-digit JAMB profile code via SMS in a matter of minutes. Ensure you’re sending the SMS from the precise number you used to generate your profile code the first time (the same SIM card as your NIN).

What Happens If You Lose Your SIM?

Here’s where things become serious. If you no longer have access to the SIM you registered or have lost it entirely, proceed to the next step.

Solution 2: If your SIM is lost or not working, you can request a manual profile code recovery by visiting your nearest JAMB office with the necessary documentation.

Step 1: Visit any JAMB office near you. (not a café or CBT center).

Step 2: Follow along:

  • Bring your NIN slip and a valid ID, such as a school ID or voter card.
  • Please include your SIM pack or line registration slip, and optionally, your WAEC/NECO results.

Step 3: Inform the official that you lost access to your JAMB profile code and cannot retrieve it via SMS.

Step 4: They will check your NIN record in the system and manually pull your profile code from JAMB’s backend.

Step 5: When confirmed, they will write it down or print it for you.

Cost: In most states, this is free, although others may require a ₦500-₦1000 token (service charge). No official payment is required unless you’re going through agents.

Additional : Use the JAMB Support Portal.

If you cannot travel to the JAMB office easily, try the JAMB Central Support System (CSP):

  • Visit https://www.jamb.gov.ng.
  • Scroll down and click Support.
  • Open a ticket under “Candidate Complaints”
  • Select “Profile Code Issues”
  • Provide your NIN, full name, date of birth, and explanation of the issue.

Within a few days, JAMB will send you an email or SMS with your profile code (if verified).

Conclusion

The JAMB profile code is one of the most important considerations for UTME or Direct Entry registration. Once you’ve lost it, you’re stuck; no new one will be created.

But, now you know:

  1. If you still have your SIM, send RESEND to 55019 or 66019.
  2. If you’ve lost your SIM, visit any JAMB office with your complete documentation.
