A fraudulent Sterling Bank account with the number has been disowned by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) for allegedly asking candidates for N15,700 in order to reschedule their Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

Fabian Benjamin, the spokesperson for JAMB, made this announcement in a statement on Thursday. Benjamin clarified that unsuspecting candidates who missed their UTME were being defrauded by using the fraudulent account “Copyrightwriter Personal J Rescheduling Flw.

” “This urgent notice is intended to alert the public to this evil plan that targets candidates who were unable to take the UTME.

Under the false pretence of providing rescheduling services for the examination, some dishonest people are fraudulently requesting N15,700 in payments,” he said. He added that the scheme’s perpetrators are not connected to JAMB or any other respectable government organisation.

Let’s be clear: this is a clear scam, and we are sure that the public won’t be duped by such regressive and low-cost methods. The perpetrators of this scam are not connected to JAMB or any other reputable government organisation.

“The account information supplied in these communications is completely false and has nothing to do with any official procedures; it is there only to commit fraud.

We demand that Sterling Bank act swiftly and forcefully to stop this illegal activity,” he stated. The spokesperson added that JAMB was actively looking for the people behind the dishonest act and had reported the incident to the appropriate security agencies.

He explained that if a candidate misses their scheduled test for reasons unrelated to the Board’s actions, JAMB does not reschedule their exam. But we’re looking into it thoroughly for candidates whose biometrics didn’t work during verification and they couldn’t take the test.

“Those who do not have any discrepancies will be given the opportunity to retake the test at no additional cost—NO PAYMENT IS NEEDED.

” It is crucial to realise that once a candidate has finished registering, JAMB does not charge any fees for exams.

“We implore every candidate to exercise caution and avoid falling for these deceptive tactics. “Take precautions and report any suspicious activity right away,” the statement said.
