Senate Minority Leader Abba Moro has denied claims that the PDP needs to join forces with other opposition parties or form a coalition in order to compete in the general elections in 2027.

Despite the widespread departure from the party, Moro said the PDP is still a powerful, national political force.

Ahead of the elections, Moro addressed rumours of possible coalitions on Africa Independent Television (AIT), particularly in view of recent remarks made by certain PDP governors who have disassociated themselves from coalition negotiations.

As I’ve stated previously, PDP is a well-known brand, Moro said. There are PDP members everywhere you look in Nigeria these days.

“The PDP can run and be competitive in the upcoming election even in the absence of a coalition or merger. “It is acceptable if a coalition is formed. However, it’s a risky move if the merger calls for completely removing the PDP name.

All throughout the nation, the PDP brand is powerful and appealing. It has the ability to win elections on its own. It’s important to keep the name,” he continued.
